SBTF is self-activating to collect information on the Ecuador EQ

On Saturday 16th April, a 7.8 earthquake hit Ecuador around 7pm local time. The Core Team of the Standby Task Force is in touch with various organizations on the ground, as well as with the international responding communities. There seems to be a need for types of information which we can contribute producing.

We are self-activating at this moment to collect information on Who does What, Where (3W). The reason for self-activation is to try and collate as much data as possible, as from our past deployments we have seen that this kind of information increases the ability of international responders to synchronize their efforts on the ground.

We are also in connection with a local NGO in Quito, Avanti. They are sending observers to the field, and will feed back information on damage assessment. We will try to include information from them to the same sheet, and may need assistance in translating information from Spanish, as well as structuring the data.

If you are a SBTF volunteer, please join the activation. You will find the link on the Ning page.

If you are not a SBTF volunteer, why don’t you join us?
