Michal Bodnar

Michal Bodnar

Michal is currently doing his PhD in Computer Science with a focus on crowdsourced damage mapping  and its possible usage in case of a disaster. He has his MSc in Geoinformatics and during his studies used to work/live in Czech republic, Sweden and China. He likes map making, programming, MOOCs and learning new languages (currently working on Chinese, next one will be Spanish). He is a gym addict and a passionate traveller always choosing off the beaten path while trying to understand the local culture.


Liz Duffell

Liz Evans-JonesLiz spent some time travelling before gaining a BSc in Ecology, Conservation and Animal behaviour. She currently loves working with large data sets at the Natural History Museum in London, where she first started out on the UK Cetacean Strandings Investigation Program (CSIP), but now works as a researcher with the GIS team, digitising the museums extensive collections.


Steven Boyd

Photo of Steven BoydSteven has a BSc in Geography,a Post Graduate Diploma in Geographic Information Systems and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. He currently works as a Geographic Information Consultant for Land and Property Services the national mapping agency of Northern Ireland

 


Wendy Norris

Wendy NorrisWendy is pursuing a PhD to study the intersections of collective intelligence and crisis journalism at CU-Boulder. Previously, she was the founder of tekhne.co, a digital information firm, and a Peace Corps Response ICT volunteer. This latest life turn comes after a decade of reporting/editing where she covered the Holy Trinity of news beats: Sex, politics and religion. She says she was led to journalism after a social work career where she witnessed the best and worst of humanity on a daily basis.


Jacopo Spatafora

Jacopo SpataforaJacopo deals with developing countries and disaster-related scenarios. He has a MA in International Development and a MSc in Risk, Disaster and Resilience. In the last three years, he has been exploring Europe and Asia, among developing countries and lively communities. Interested in DRR and CCA at the grassroots level, he is still searching for worldwide challenging opportunities for self-development.

 


Ben Proctor

Photo of Ben ProctorBen is a digital communications specialist with a particular interest in how technology impacts emergency response. He works in and around the public sector in the UK. In particular he trains emergency planners, communications and professionals and senior managers in the use of digital technologies in emergencies.

Hilary Nicole Zainab ErvinHilary Zainab is a mapper, writer and research consultant. She holds a dual MPH/MS and is currently completing her PhD in International Development . Hilary has an expertise in gender, geography, and complex emergency management. Her passion lies in data analytics and security for the grassroots. She is the Executive Director of Devsi.org and currently writes for Urb.im.


Keera Morrish

KeeraKeera has a Masters in art education and Landscape Architecture. She currently works for Esri as a GIS instructor. Her interest is in using GIS for emergency management and disaster response.
